Planning
When considering the planning of the mobile phones documentary, we first took into account the target audience. This would influence our questions asked, the language used, the people interviewed and the mise-en-scene, for example the costume worn. We decided that the target audience would be for students, this was because the people being interviewed were students themselves and this would then influence the audience more as they would feel it was talking to them personally.
When filming our documentary we decided to begin the piece with a presenter who introduced the peice, this i felt was affective as it told the audience what the programme will be about. We also decided to have graphics across the screen asking the questions rather than the presenter asking them, this furthered our skills by adding the graphics, also making the documentary more professional looking. This screenshot taken from the documentary is showing evidence of the people interviewed. This is backing up the idea of students being the target audience as it is a student being interviewed, this shown by the simple white graphics in the bottom left hand corner. These kind of interviews will be interesting to the audience as they will want to hear what they have to say and to see if they share the same views.
What i felt worked well was how during the editing, when showing the answers the questions we cut from one person to another showing the variety of point of view and the different answers they came up with. Also, when considering the presenter, we dressed him in a mobile phone costume, this added comedy to the peice making it more light hearted and immediatley appealing to a younger audience becuase straight away they will see it as not too serious.
What i feel we could improve on is the cutting from different shots is too quick and some of the speech cuts off. This has taught me to keep the camera rolling for longer so when editing, there is more time to allow the clip to follow smoothly. In addition to this, whilst filming, the camera volume was changed, this leading the volume throughout the documentary to change half way through, this has taught me that next time i consider filming, variables throughout need to be kept the same in order to make the programme run smoothly.
